There’s something truly special about capturing the journey of motherhood, especially when it’s the second time around! I had the joy of photographing Allyson’s maternity session for her first son, back in April 2022. Now, as she prepares to welcome her second little one, we headed to this breathtaking spot in Forest Falls nestled in the Southern California mountains.

One of my favorite things about this spot is its year-round beauty. Tucked in a valley in the Southern California mountains, it offers a stunning natural backdrop for any session. The rolling hills, tall evergreens, and distant peaks give the images a peaceful, almost magical feel. This makes it the perfect location for maternity sessions.
From mid-spring through early fall, the lighting here is simply perfect. During golden hour, the sunlight filters through the trees, casting a soft, warm glow. It highlights the natural tones and textures of the landscape beautifully.
Timing is key for this location. While it’s beautiful year-round, winter presents challenges. In colder months, the sun dips behind the mountains more quickly, cutting the golden hour short.
Allyson radiated beauty during this session. Dressed in neutral tones, she complemented the warm landscape perfectly. The mountains behind her added grandeur and calm, perfect for spotlighting this moment in her life.
