This California elopement with Sierra and Jessi was so intentional and beautiful! They made their wedding day so special and exactly what they wanted it to be. As a California elopement and wedding photographer, it is so important to tune out the opinions of others in the planning process. Planning a wedding or an elopement can get stressful quickly. So, I have a few tips for you to help it go smoothly!

Tips for Planning your Elopement | California Photographer

When you first get engaged, the emotions are everywhere! It is such an exciting time that I believe you should take time to really soak in and enjoy it. Once you’re ready to start planning, I would speak to your fiance in the beginning about your vision for your big day. Try to talk about all of the things! Think about if you want a small intimate California elopement or a larger wedding day celebration! It’s time to focus on what YOU want your wedding day to be. It’s a celebration of marriage, and a day you will remember forever!

Once you chat together, talk budget and finances and what’s the most important to the least important. This is the simplest way to really stay on track financially because things can really add up fast! I love lists, so of course I recommend creating a high priority and low priority list. So for example, if a photographer is your highest priority and you want a specific style, you may be able to spend a little more to make that happen.

Redlands California Wedding Day | Sierra + Jessi

When Sierra and Jessi came together, they decided they wanted a sweet and simple elopement with their family and closest friends. I shared a few options with them and they decided on the park in Redlands because they love the outdoors and beautiful scenery. They had a short ceremony and Sierra’s brother-in-law officiated, which was super special to them. After their ceremony, they did a small toast to hear words of encouragement and to thank their guests for being there. From there we did some family pictures and the rest of the time was couples photos! Aside from the beautiful couples photos, I always take some time to photograph the bride and groom separately! It’s such a big day for both of you and I like to capture that memory. This day was really amazing and such an ideal wedding day!
